Carne Asada Tacos

Tender, smoky, and full of flavor, Carne Asada Tacos are a classic Mexican street food that everyone loves. Grilled marinated steak tucked into warm tortillas and topped with fresh garnishes makes for the ultimate taco night.

🛒 Ingredients

For the Marinade:

2 lbs flank steak or skirt steak

½ cup orange juice

¼ cup lime juice (freshly squeezed)

3 tbsp olive oil

4 garlic cloves, minced

½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped

1 jalapeño, minced (optional for spice)

1 tsp cumin

1 tsp chili powder

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

For the Tacos:

Corn or flour tortillas, warmed

Chopped onion

Fresh cilantro

Lime wedges

Optional: sliced radishes, avocado, salsa, or cotija cheese

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Marinate the Steak – In a large bowl or zip-top bag, mix all marinade ingredients. Add steak, coat well, and marinate at least 2 hours (overnight is best).

2. Grill the Steak – Preheat grill (or cast-iron pan) to high heat. Grill steak 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer to desired doneness.

3. Rest & Slice – Let steak rest 10 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.

4. Assemble Tacos – Fill tortillas with steak, top with onion, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime.

🌟 Tips

Smokier flavor: Add a splash of soy sauce or beer to the marinade.

Tortilla hack: Warm tortillas directly over a gas flame for a charred edge.

Serving idea: Pair with Mexican Rice for the perfect combo.
